The Language Archive opens Season 2012 at Redwood Curtain

George is a brilliant linguist whose life work is capturing the world’s vanishing languages. While his wife is vanishing out the door and his assistant is mute with adoration for him, enter the last two speakers of the Ellowan language, a funny and fractious truth-talking couple. Julia Cho’s magical prize-winning tale is a poignant and quirky comedy proving that love is the one language that can leave us all at a loss for words.

James Floss directs this passionate and humorous play that was recommended to Redwood Curtain by many people who saw it at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival last season. “Everybody who saw it in Ashland said we should take a look at it,” said Artistic Director Clint Rebik. “And all the players fell into place that were thrilled about this wonderful, magical script.”

Director Floss said he was moved by the love story inherent in the script. “Love and how we are able to express it – or not. It’s like a theatrical Valentine!” he laughed.

Redwood Curtain is thrilled to welcome a cast full of RC veterans: Lynne Wells, Bob Wells, Terry Desch, Christina Jioras, Pamela Lyall and Jerry Nusbaum, along with talented newcomer Craig Benson who joins the company for his first RC production. Daniel C Nyiri is doing the scenic design, Lydia Foreman designs costumes, and resident RC designers Michael Burkhart and Jon Turney will design lighting and sound.
